The Fairness Campaign believes every child deserves a home. Over 7,000 of our Kentucky children live in foster care today, and more than half of those same children are without a loving home environment—2,000 are eligible for adoption.
The intersection of racism, sexism, and homophobia is central to our understanding of prejudice in America, and we must recognize that dismantling one is key to the dissolution of the others. Too often we fail to see the inherent connection of all forms of discrimination, and that no offense of prejudice may go unnoticed.
The Fairness Campaign favors repeal of the § 233A of the Kentucky Constitution, the “Marriage Amendment” passed in 2004, which bars recognition of the marriages of same-sex couples and further provides that a “legal status identical or substantially similar to that of marriage for unmarried individuals shall not be valid or recognized.”
